چکیده

This work describes the development of an automated method for metrological purposes to measure the length of filament-shaped objects. The proposed methodology can determine the length of the object(s) of interest using image segmentation, where the Snake Model (SM) was applied. The measurement procedure starts from the segmentation step, where a mathematical morphology technique called erosion is applied, resulting in a thin curve representation with only two endpoints (skeleton). A set of 3x3 kernels was defined for the erosion procedure. The piecewise linear approximation concept was also employed to measure the total length of an object, based on the dimension of the pixel (unitary length) that composes the skeleton. The accuracy of the algorithm was evaluated using a sort of DNA filaments from Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) images.

Study the Effect of Silicon Nanowire Length on Characteristics of Silicon Nanowire Based Solar Cells by Using Impedance Spectroscopy

Silicon nanowire (SiNW) arrays were produced by electroless method on polycrystalline Si substrate, in HF/ AgNO3 solution. Although the monocrystalline silicon wafer is commonly utilized as a perfect substrate, polycrystalline silicon as a low cost substrate was used in this work for photovoltaic applications. In order to study the influence of etching time (which affects the SiNWs length) on d...

Magnetic Properties of Ni0.3Fe0.7 Alloy Nanowires

The effect of length variation on the magnetic properties of NiFe alloy nanowires electrodeposited into the alumina template was investigated. The diameter (45±2.5 nm) and length (~ 1.9, 7.12, 8.3, 9.5 and 13.3 µm) of the nanowires were estimated from scanning electron microscopy images. Energy dispersive spectroscopy results showed Ni3Fe7 composition of the alloy nanowire...

An atomistically enriched continuum model for nanoscale contact mechanics and its application to contact scaling.

This work provides a comprehensive exposition and extension of an atomistically enriched contact mechanics model initially proposed by the present authors. The contact model is based on the coarse-graining of the interaction occurring between the molecules of the contacting bodies. As these bodies may be highly compliant, a geometrically nonlinear kinematical description is chosen. Thus a large...

I-V Characteristics of a Molecular Wire of Polyaniline (Emeraldine Base)

In this study, Polyaniline molecule (emeraldine base) is modeled as a molecular wire and the effects of the metal/molecule coupling strength and the molecule length on the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics are numerically investigated. Using a tight-binding Hamiltonian model, the methods based on Non-equilibrium Green’s function theory, Landauer formalism and Newns-Anderson model, our calcu...

A Novel Method for Automated Estimation of Effective Parameters of Complex Auditory Brainstem Response: Adaptive Processing based on Correntropy Concept

Objectives: Automated Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABR) peak detection is a novel technique to facilitate the measurement of neural synchrony along the auditory pathway through the brainstem. Analyzing the location of the peaks in these signals and the time interval between them may be utilized either for analyzing the hearing process or detecting peripheral and central lesions in the human he...
